Major Purpose

 

Reporting to Sr. Director Global Services, the Manager – Data Analytics & Media Intelligence will head the Media Insights team at Agility. The Media Insights team sets and drives the analytics agenda for the company, establishing thought leadership on media measurement. This involves researching and conceptualizing the analytics requirements of the public relations and communications industry, researching and surfacing opportunities to integrate new data points to provide additional insights, as well as mapping the customer journey to measure the impact of PR activities for real business.

 

The Manager – Data Analytics & Media Intelligence will be responsible for managing the current portfolio of analytics clients and ensuring their retention. They will lead the media insights team by setting high standards in quality and productivity.

 

As this position plays a significant role in gathering the requirements, defining the scope, and implementing and delivering executive-ready reports, this role requires collaboration with a variety of departments to ensure proper understanding of client needs and managing internal and external communications, as needed.

 

To succeed in this role, you must have a strong understanding of: PR/Communications, the media industry, research methodologies, data analysis, data visualization, and qualitative analytics. You must possess excellent writing skills, an admirable command of the English language, and a strong eye for detail. In order to excel in this position, you must have strong organizational and multi-tasking abilities, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced deadline driven environment.

 

Key Responsibilities

 

Business Growth & Thought Leadership

  • Own the P&L for the Media Insights Group, drive top line revenue growth through innovative measurement offerings.
  • Understand the direction the PR industry is headed and the what, who, and how of the decision process.
  • Identify account growth opportunities within the current client base, engaging clients in discussions on enhanced reports and analytics.
  • Support sales and account management through analytics driven programs and collaterals.
  • Study different data sources such as Google trends, Google Analytics, social media metrics, traditional media insights, and web analytics, in order to integrate suitable combinations of data points which create an insightful and pertinent analysis for clients.
  • Guide and contribute in the development of the reporting module in Agility Media Analytics platform.
  • Explore and create different formats for client report delivery and dashboards using other software and technology, such has web-based interactive reports, PowerBI and Tableau etc.
  • Mobilize regular creation of media content (blogs, infographics, reports) from the media insights team for publication and distribution to our clients and our media platforms.

Client Retention & Team Management

  • Coordinate and manage client projects from the information gathering phase, job estimation, resource allocation and delivery. Defining statement of work, timelines, and managing projects to ensure successful completion and client satisfaction.
  • Maintain and exceed the high client retention rate Agility already enjoys.
  • Consult and advise clients on suitable analysis programs to measure their PR and communication objectives and/or campaigns.
  • Manage a global team of data analysts and collaborate on individual reports with the team to ensure quality, productivity and timeliness on deliverables.
  • Guide team members on skills and knowledge development, training and process improvements.
  • Nurture the positive, collaborative team environment that exists within and between various teams at Agility.
  • Create effective quality control for design, testing, and building of reports, with great attention to detail and using strong analytical skills.
  • Maintain documentation specific to each client and create processes to explain complex topics in a simple, straightforward way to ramp-up new team members.
  • Ensure client deliverables are in line with their contracts on both cost and client expectation.
  • Learn Agility and other supporting software and platforms used by the Media Insights team to access and manipulate data and create executive-ready reports.

Requirements

  • Completed university degree in a related field (Public Relations, Communications, Journalism, Mathematics, Statistics, Market Research, Quantitative Research techniques)
  • 5+ years of relevant experience in the field of data analysis, market research analysis, media measurement or another similar field.
  • 2+ years of direct management experience.
  • Adept at using and learning complex software, as well as adapting to any updates made within the platform.
  • Experience using a variety of data visualization tools and methods to create graphs, charts, timelines, maps, dashboards, infographics, etc.
  • Familiarity with basic statistics including sample size calculation, confidence intervals, margin of error, and linear correlation/regression,
  • Advanced proficiency using Excel (including Macros), Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Knowledge of data visualization software such as Tableau, PowerBI Qlikview, Spotfire an added asset.
  • Exceptional analytical, conceptual, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Enjoy and passionate about data-driven approaches to business problems and can handle big data analysis.
  • Comfortable and efficient when working with tight deadlines and managing multiple competing priorities.
  • Ability to work independently and come up with creative solutions to complex problems.
  • Excellent writing skills and awareness of CP/AP style of writing.
  • Ability to provide a consultative customer service experience to clients via phone and email.
  • Effective communication skills, including the ability to clearly and concisely express complex processes and ideas in everyday language.
