Major Purpose

 

Reporting to the Manager, Research & Analytics, the Report Specialist assists in the preparation of executive-ready reports. The Report Specialist’s responsibilities will include assisting other team members with reporting tasks, monitoring media from various sources (i.e. print, online, broadcast, social media, etc.), and analyzing content to highlight relevant metrics such as coverage trend, key messaging and insights, top authors and publications, coverage sentiment, regional analysis, and coverage prominence measurement.

The successful candidate must be flexible, with an aptitude for quantitative and qualitative analysis, strong writing, and some exposure to data visualization and reporting. We are looking for someone with a strong eye for detail, strong organizational and time management abilities, and a passion for news and current events. This entry-level position would be ideal for a recent graduate or someone looking to begin a new career path.

  

Key Responsibilities

 

  • Develop proficiency on Agility’s proprietary platforms and various subscription services to monitor and analyze relevant media coverage across all media types, i.e. print, online, broadcast, blogs, and social media (including Twitter, Facebook, Instagram etc.).
  • Assist in the preparation of client reports in an appropriate, professional format based on the specific client’s needs. Reports may be presented in PowerPoint, Word, Excel or other formats (e.g. Tableau).
  • Apply quality assurance to ensure data accuracy and integrity at all stages.
  • Use other third-party software as required to integrate data and analytics into our reporting.
  • Present research findings through intuitive data visualization and easily understandable written analysis, ensuring the information presented is clear and unambiguous.

Requirements

 

Your application should directly address your qualifications:

  

  • Completed post secondary degree or diploma in a relevant field.
  • Relevant experience with data analysis, research, and report writing through previous work, work placement, or schooling.
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
  • Able to work under pressure when working with tight deadlines and managing multiple competing priorities. Strong organization and time management skills are crucial.
  • Excellent writing and editing skills, and awareness of the Canadian Press style of writing.
  • Familiarity with basic statistics and research methodologies (quantitative and qualitative).
  • Exceptional analytical, conceptual, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Effective written and oral communication skills, including the ability to clearly and concisely express complex work and ideas in everyday language.
  • Adept at using and learning new software, particularly applications used for reporting and data visualization. Previous experience with platforms like Tableau, PowerBI, SPSS, etc. is an asset.
  • Reliable, responsible, and capable of working collaboratively in a team environment.
