We have staff around the globe including the United States, the Philippines, offices in the United Kingdom, and Headquarters in the beautiful Canadian capital city of Ottawa. We are currently working remotely.


Major Purpose

Reporting to the Manager, Data Analytics & Media Intelligence, the Senior Media Analyst plays a significant role in preparing media analysis reports for our client – including gathering requirements, conceptualizing, implementing, and delivering the final product.


The successful candidate will have an aptitude for quantitative and qualitative analysis, strong writing and editing skills, data visualization smarts, and a working understanding of the PR industry. We are looking for someone with an eye for detail, strong organizational and time management skill, and an inquisitive, analytical mind. A passion for news, social media, and digital analytics will also help.


This role requires collaboration with a variety of departments and team members, both locally and overseas. Along with creating reports themselves, the Senior Media Analyst will help ensure a high standard of quality and productivity by training overseas team members on specific tasks, reviewing their work, and offering feedback and guidance to help elevate other team members.


This full‐time position would be ideal for a well‐rounded and experienced candidate who loves digging into data, and using words and visuals to tell the story behind the numbers.


Key Responsibilities


  • Develop proficiency on various platforms to monitor and analyze relevant media coverage including print, online, broadcast, blogs, and social media.
  • Leverage the appropriate data sources, tools, and analytical rigor to create executive-ready reports for our clients, including intuitive data visualizations and clear, insightful written analysis.
  • Project manage reports from the information gathering phase to analysis and delivery, including monitoring, tagging, assigning sentiment, writing summaries and insights.
  • Supervise and project manage a portfolio of client reports, ensuring timely delivery, quality standards and profitability.
  • Assist team of analysts, reviewing their work to ensure quality as needed. Offering feedback and guidance to help others meet high quality levels for data accuracy, analysis, writing, data visualization, and overall presentation.
  • Maintain report-specific documentation and be able to train team members on creating those reports, acting as a back-up for reports in your portfolio when necessary.
  • Assist with creating or refining our production processes in order to increase efficiency, capacity, quality, and profitability.

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, including the ability to clearly and concisely express complex work and ideas in everyday language.
  • Exceptional analytical, conceptual, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Comfortable and efficient when working with tight deadlines and managing multiple competing priorities.
  • Completed post-secondary degree in a related field such as Public Relations, Communications, Journalism, Market Research, or Quantitative Research.
  • 3+ years of relevant experience in the field of data analysis, market research analysis, digital marketing, media monitoring, public relations or similar field.
  • Advanced Excel skills, including pivot tables, v-lookups, macros, charts, etc.
  • Data visualization skills to create charts, graphs, timelines, maps etc. Knowledge of tools such as PowerBI, Tableau, Google Data Studio an asset.
  • Experience with clickstream data platforms like Google Analytics and social media analytics platforms is an asset.
  • Ability to provide consultative client communication via phone, video, and email.
